The second oldest known settlement center of İzmir is located in the current location of Bayraklı Tepekule. It is dated to 3000 years. Bayraklı, which was covered with water in ancient times, was founded on a peninsula extending towards Izmir Bay.
Bayraklı of that period I and II. It has contemporary features with Troia. Proto geometric pottery in the settlement, BC. Megaron-style rectangular houses dating from the 10th to the 7th centuries show characteristics of the Archaic Period.
To the east of Bayraklı, which includes the southern slopes of the Yamanlar mountain group, is the Bornova District to the east, the İzmir Bay and Karşıyaka District to the west, the Karşıyaka and Bornova Districts to the north, and the İzmir Gulf and Konak District to the south.
