Buca, which was established 9 kilometers southeast of Izmir, is located on the southern skirts of Nif Mountain. It has a surface area of 180 square kilometers, 38 meters above sea level and Yenişehir in the north, Torbalı in the northeast, and Karabağlar in the west. It is surrounded by flat terrain and is rich in hills, valleys and vegetation. Buca has flat and fertile soils.
Buca is typical of the Mediterranean climate. The winters receive plenty of precipitation and the summers are hot. The average annual temperature is 28-29 degrees.
Buca is one of the oldest settlements in İzmir. There are 4 villages: Kırıklar, Karacaağaç Kaynaklar and Belenbaşı. All settlements have been established on the plain and there is no village established on mountainous terrain. In the district center, there are 39 neighborhood headmen and 4 village headmen. There are Kemalpaşa and Bornova in the north, Konak in the west, Menderes in the south and Torbalı in the east.
